Psychopharmacology is the science and art of using medications to treat mental disorders. The complexity of this field requires continuous learning in order to keep current with new advances. Psychopharmacologic physicians need to understand how the body processes medications (including when co-existing medical conditions are present), and how medications affect the mind and body.

Supervisory Consultation

Supervisory consultation is a traditional method of teaching psychotherapy, in which the learner or trainee describes case material, while the supervisory consultant provides theoretical and clinical knowledge and advice with the goal of helping the trainee make progress with the case and learn the principles of psychotherapy.
